Myles & Jun Yakitori Char Grill
Just a short 5-minute drive from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast, this unassuming restaurant is a must if you like Japanese cuisine. Because the restaurant is so popular, you may have to wait on a table, but I can assure you, the food is worth the wait. The owner, Jun is a hoot and has been known to sing to waiting guests or offer them her special drink! The menu is expansive and has something for everyone from appetizers to surf and turf combinations. I love the Chicken Kara Age which is Japanese fried chicken served in a lettuce wrap with delicious peanut and orange sweet chili sauce. This is an appetizer but plenty of food for me.

Barbecue
Where else can you have pulled BBQ and a Bourbon? Chris loves a good bourbon and we both love the pulled pork plate. The meat is perfectly smoked with crispy edges and brought to your table without sauce. You can choose from mustard-based, white, or tomato-based sauce, or you can do what I do and go sauceless – the meat is that good! I recommend baked beans, greens, and slaw for sides. Service is a team concept, so you may have more than one server. The restaurant is located 15 minutes from Flowertown, but the food is definitely worth it. If you like a super casual atmosphere, this is the place for you.

Bars
If you are looking for an exceptional wine menu and great charcuterie, check out Accent on Wine. We like to walk the 4+ blocks from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast and grab a table on Little Main Street to people-watch. I often do lunch with a friend ordering a glass of bubbly and several gourmet sandwich bites. My favorite sandwich bite is My Dolce Vita (fig jam, parmesan, and prosciutto). The sandwiches are 4 inches long and SO savory that you may have to order another glass of wine!

Just a short walk from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast in the heart of downtown Summerville, Azalea Bar and Garden is a cozy place to gather. Inside, you will find craft cocktails, wine, bubbly, and light southern fare such as jalapeno cornbread and pimento cheese appetizers. The atmosphere has a cool vibe and the garden is lovely to sit and sip. If you like bubbly like I do, make sure to check out the Champagne Room – it is my favorite! Oh, don’t forget the Bourbon Caramel Cheesecake. It goes great with bubbly.

Coffee Shops
I love their creative coffee concoctions! I try something new every time I visit and I’ve loved every one of them. You may encounter a line of guests waiting to order, but trust me, the wait is worth it. The atmosphere has a cool, laid-back vibe that you will appreciate and it is only a few blocks from Flowertown.

Coastal Coffee Roasters roast coffee beans from around the world and have created several popular varieties used in their beverages. These varieties are for sale in the store. The Lavender Latte is my favorite and here’s why. Imagine a smooth espresso with just the right amount of steamed milk and a perfect amount of lavender. Add CCR’s pie-size cinnamon roll and you have a match made in heaven. You rarely have to wait to order but make sure to scope out a spot to sit as seating is a rare commodity.

Fine Dining
If you are looking for the ultimate dining experience, this is the place! Just 3 miles from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast, you will experience flawless 5-star service and amazing food. I can truly say I have never had a better cup of She Crab soup, fresh wedge salad, or melt-in-your-mouth filet. The atmosphere is upscale, but you will feel very much at home. If you’ve never experienced Halls Chophouse, treat yourself to a dining experience like no other.

Italian
Do you love traditional Italian Cuisine? If so, we have the perfect recommendation for you! Located just a few blocks from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast this family-owned rustic Italian restaurant is located in one of Summerville’s tree-lined older neighborhoods. La Rustica on Magnolia offers two dining options: a lovely outdoor garden area or the interior of the traditional home. The owners, Giulio and Janie, come to your table to ensure patrons are enjoying their family recipes. My husband deemed the traditional layered lasagna with red sauce absolute perfection! My favorite is seafood cioppino. The dish comes with a lot of seafood and a saffron sauce so delicious you will want a second piece of garlic bread to eat every last bite.

If you consider pizza the sixth food group, Benny Mazzetto’s will satisfy your cravings. Pizza slices are as big as your head, but if one slice is not enough, you can order a 28 inch pie to eat in, or take out with you. While there, check out the tap wall, featuring 20 + types of beer in the back of the restaurant. You will appreciate the short walk back to Flowertown to burn some calories. Here’s a fun fact: Mazzetto means bouquet and their logo even depicts azaleas in honor of Flowertown.

Seafood
Of all the restaurants located near Flowertown Bed and Breakfast, Low Country Fish Camp is one of our favorites! My southern born and bred husband Chris swears their hushpuppies are the best he has ever had. Because it is authentic southern food, he orders blackened catfish every time. We typically order extra sides to take home with us such as cast iron pan roasted corn with peppers, tangy collard greens, crispy hushpuppies, and the best red beans and rice in the Lowcountry (sorry New Orleans!). Your stay at Flowertown Bed and Breakfast is simply not complete without a visit to Low Country Fish Camp.

Bexley Fish and Raw Bar is the new “it” restaurant in Summerville. Although the restaurant is small, you never feel crowded or rushed. The menu is ever-changing, and always features fresh fish like crab, oysters, tuna and even a lobster roll (my personal favorite!) The Raw Bar features the freshest seafood possible, and the Chef’s daily specials are incredible! The food presentation is so creatively beautiful, you will want to take photos of your plate before you enjoy your culinary masterpiece. Check out the attached photo as an example of just how beautiful an order of braised cabbage can be. In true Flowertown fashion, the flowers are made of caviar! Fairly new to the Summerville restaurant scene, we love the energetic and welcoming feel of this cozy restaurant and often walk to Bexley Fish and Raw Bar for date night.

Mexican
Chris and I love Mexican food and agree that Azul Mexicano is the best we’ve had in the low country. If you are looking for traditional Mexican fare, you will be delighted with this restaurant which is a short 10 minute drive from Flowertown Bed and Breakfast. I always order cheese enchiladas smothered in mole sauce. In my humble opinion, the best Mexican restaurants have mastered their mole sauce and Azul most definitely has. Besides the excellent mole sauce, I order the black beans which are fresh and flavorful. Chris is a verde sauce man and orders anything on the menu that has verde sauce. Azul is a fun atmosphere within an upscale Mexican restaurant. As an added bonus, we have never had to wait for a table or a server. Azul specializes in fast service all the way around. around.
